International Drug Users Remembrance Day, 21 July

July 21, 2025

Today, on International Drug Users Remembrance Day, AHRA stands in solidarity with people who use drugs across Southeast Asia and around the world.

We take this moment to remember and honor the lives lost due to the war on drugs, preventable overdoses, stigma, criminalization, and systemic neglect. Behind every name is a story, a family, a community and a call for change.

This day is also a powerful reminder of the urgent need for:

  • Evidence-based harm reduction services
  • Decriminalization and human rights-based drug policies
  • Dignity, respect, and protection for people who use drugs
  • Funding and support for community-led responses

At AHRA, we remain committed to amplifying the voices of people who use drugs, advocating for compassionate policies, and pushing back against the violence and injustice inflicted by punitive drug laws.

Join us in lighting a candle, sharing a memory, or taking action in your community.
Let us honor those we have lost by fighting for the living.
